Botox, one of the most effective non-surgical beauty methods in recent years, is one of the most important applications that delays the aging process when applied in the right hands and to the right people.

There are seven serotypes of botulinum toxin, a toxin secreted by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum (Btx A - Btx G).

The type used in the cosmetics industry is Btx-A.

Btx-B type is mostly used in neurological problems. Bacterial toxin is obtained in a weakened form by processing in a laboratory environment and is used for medical purposes.

Botox is not a snake venom, as is commonly believed.

What is the mechanism of action of Botox?

When Botox is injected into the muscle, it temporarily disables the nerves of that muscle or muscle groups and eliminates involuntary movements and excessive contraction. The mentioned temporary effect lasts for 3-4 months and at the end of this period the contractions may start again. Therefore, it is necessary to repeat the injections. The effect may last longer in cosmetic applications and application areas in hyperhidrosis.

The term Botox is actually a brand name and is generally used when talking about botulinum toxin products. Just as the name Selpak is used for all tissue paper today in Turkey.

Apart from BOTOX®, there are botulinum toxin type A preparations produced by many different companies such as DYSPORT®, BOTOXINA®, REFINEX®, ESTETOX®. American production BOTOX® and French production DYSPORT® are widely used in our country.
