Arm aesthetics, called brachioplasty, is performed to solve problems that cause cosmetic discomfort, especially in the upper arm area.
In the upper arm area, skin sagging may occur due to age and gravity or after excessive weight loss, or excessive fat storage and sagging may occur in this area to create a bad appearance.
In cases where lubrication is intense and sagging is low, liposuction is at the forefront, while in cases where skin sagging is at the forefront, the process of removing the skin and subcutaneous tissues called dermolipectomy is applied to the lower inner part of the upper arm affected by sagging.
Tissues are removed with careful planning and the wound is closed by suturing. The scar that will form does not attract much attention as it is left on the lower inner side of the arm.
The procedure, which is quite satisfactory in terms of results, usually takes 1-2 hours, there is no need to stay in the hospital afterward, if a drain is used, it is usually removed the next day.
Elastic bandage is applied for 2-3 weeks, recovery time is short. Patients who can start their daily life in a few days have the chance to dress more freely. It is recommended to wait 6 weeks for heavy sports.
Smoking should be stopped 4 weeks before the operation. In addition, aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal food supplements should be discontinued 7-10 days before.
If this surgery is planned after bariatric surgery, it is recommended that you stay at a constant weight for at least 6 months and your body mass index should be below 25.
