Eyelid Aesthetic

Age-related changes that occur in all facial skin and subcutaneous tissues over the years are also seen in the eyelids.

With the effect of gravity, the forehead skin and eyebrows hang over the upper eyelid. Due to the relaxation and deformation of the muscles surrounding the eyeball and the membrane called the septum, the fat packs around the eyeball become herniated, bagging on the eyelids, loosening and discoloration of the skin occur. As a result, a tired, exhausted and old appearance occurs. Deep grooves form between the lower eyelid and the lateral edges of the nose.

Sun rays, air pollution, irregular sleep, excessive alcohol and smoking accelerate the aging process of the skin.

The process of correcting the signs of aging around the eyes (bagging, excess skin and sagging, wrinkles) is called eyelid aesthetic surgery or blepharoplasty.

Upper Eyelid Aesthetics

It is usually done under local anaesthesia. Excess skin and muscle tissue on the lid is removed with an incision made to cause a line to be hidden in the fold line of the lid. If there are herniated fat packs, they are reduced. If the drooping of the eyebrows is severe, eyebrow lifting, forehead lifting and temple lifting operations should be added. The operation can be performed with local anesthesia or general anesthesia and may take 1-3 hours, depending on the additional procedures to be performed.

Lower Eyelid Aesthetics

With the incision made just below the eyelashes, the lower eyelid skin is lifted together with the muscle. The process of reducing the fat packs is rarely necessary. Usually, the fat packs spread to the edge of the eye socket, helping to correct the depression under the eyes. Lower eyelid aesthetics is usually performed together with mid-face lift surgery. Therefore, it may take 2-3 hours under general anesthesia. If there are bruises under the eyes, it also helps to correct this appearance, as the excess skin in the purple areas will be removed and the bottom will be filled with fat cells.

Postoperative:

Although serious problems do not occur, swelling and bruises caused by thin eyelid skin may last for 5-7 days, and patients can return to their work and social life in 5-7 days. It will take at least 3 months for all edema to pass and the entire face shape to become clear.

After eyelid aesthetic applications, traces that are not obvious at first glance remain on the fold line of the upper eyelid and under the lower eyelid eyelashes. While these scars are red in color at first, they take on the skin color over time and their prominence decreases.
